Custom Made Pens

Custom Made Pens Detail
OK, before I start the main body of this post let me make it very clear that I am in no way trying to show any disrespect for the craft of making pens. I respect the talent it takes along with the patience and craftsmanship to make a pen (or any one piece custom item). That being said...........I was at a artisen show about 3 months ago and came upon a gentleman that made FP's from wood and resins/plastics/celluloids (can't remember). All of the pens were outstanding in regards to color, design, feel and variety. Some were a bit to big and heavy for my taste but still very nice pens. My initial thought was "now here is something I don't have". That all stopped when I saw the prices. The range was $250.00 - $1,500.00. Please refer to the first paragragh before reading on.I understand the cost of time and materials. I also understand wanting to make a profit. I accept the additional cost as these pens are unique and hand crafted so by default, the price is a little higher. My question is, what is "average" costs for custom made pens? Is this range normal or high. There were more than a few pens I would have bought but they were way out of my range. Now, if I had $250.00 or $350.00 to spare I would have bought one but my budget will not allow this most of the time.
